Energy Assurance Grant Program
Florida has developed over the years numerous plans and reporting mechanisms to address energy assurance. This ARRA-funded initiative will enable the state to procure consulting services to examine Florida’s energy assurance plans and policies separately and as a whole to strengthen our system. In addition, this program will design an automated computer-based system to track the duration, response, restoration and recovery time of energy supply disruptions and include the capability of mapping areas of the state experiencing outages. Funding will support the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s efforts to develop a detailed Critical Energy Infrastructure and Key Assets Survey that includes Smart Grid elements. Finally, this program will conclude with two statewide exercises and one regional exercise designed to test out the upgrades to the system prior to next hurricane season.
