TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today signed House Bill 15A and encouraged Floridians who purchased, or contracted for purchase of, an ENERGY STAR® air conditioning or geothermal system to submit a rebate application by November 30, 2010. Purchases or contracts for purchases must have been from a Florida-licensed contractor between August 30, 2010, and September 14, 2010.
TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today encouraged Floridians to learn how to receive a Florida ENERGY STAR® Residential HVAC rebate by visiting www.rebates.com/floridahvac. Beginning Monday, August 30, 2010, Florida homeowners who upgrade their air conditioning systems can qualify to receive a $1,500 rebate. The program will end on Friday, December 31, 2010, or when the $15 million in rebate funds are depleted. These purchases are expected to increase employment in the air conditioning industry and to create new green jobs for home energy efficiency raters.
TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today commended Floridians who purchased ENERGY STAR appliances and reserved $17.5 million in rebate funds in the first 36 hours of the ENERGY STAR Appliance Rebate Program. Beginning at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Friday, April 16, 2010, Floridians reserved more than 72,700 rebates averaging $241 for select ENERGY STAR appliances purchased from Florida retailers. The program will pump at least $62 million into Florida’s economy, in addition to generating at least $4 million in tax revenues.
TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today was joined by Florida appliance retailers to remind Floridians to purchase ENERGY STAR appliances qualifying for rebates, beginning Friday, April 16, through Sunday, April 25, 2010. To increase the likelihood of receiving a rebate, purchasers can reserve rebates by applying for a Priority Number, beginning at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Friday, April 16. Select ENERGY STAR refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers, dishwashers, gas water heaters (tank-less), and room air conditioners are eligible for a rebate of 20 percent off the retail price and $75 for recycling the old appliance, up to $1,500 per household.
TALLAHASSEE – In celebration of National Environmental Education Week, Governor Charlie Crist today announced that Serve to Preserve: Green Schools Awards applications and judging will now be completely paperless, using only online technologies. Applications recognizing students, teachers, classrooms, schools and school districts for their efforts to create healthy, efficient and productive places for learning can be submitted beginning today through June 11, 2010.
